North Korea - Feb 17

On Tuesday, China's Foreign Ministry stated that China did not send a delegation to the birth anniversary of North Korean leader Kim Jong-il. According to spokesperson Hua Chunying, instead, the staff at the Chinese Embassy in North Korea attended "the relevant activity", upon the invitation of the North Korean foreign ministry. This indicates that the diplomatic relations between two countries remain strained, due to the third nuclear test in February 2013, as well as the robberies and killings of Chinese citizens done by North Korean army deserters.
