Liberia - Oct 21

US military forces are on the ground in Liberia to address the Ebola crisis. Rear Admiral John Kirby says that US troops are setting up a 25-bed hospital that should be operational by this week. Additionally, the U.S. Naval Medical Research Center is continuing to use three mobile medical labs to test samples from community members in a 24-hour period; emphasizing that US military personnel had no direct contact with local populations, nor were they administering treatment. Kirby stressed the focus on four key axes: Order and Control, Logistical Support, Set-Up/Construction, and Engineering - giving the sense that humanitarian assistance will be given on a limited scale.
