The next European Commission, led by Jean-Claude Juncker, is to be confirmed by the European Parliament on Wednesday 22 October. A vote of MEPs in Strasbourg will take place after the last two candidates have completed their parliamentary hearings. This comes after Jose Manuel Barroso gave his last speech to MEPs as Commission president, commending the EU response to the Eurozone crisis.
